Greetings:
Our choice for elected officials truly does reflect the will and
intelligence of the people. I was listening to a radio show this morning where the host
called people and asked some pretty simple questions. Almost without exception, nobody
could answer any of them. Here are a couple notable examples for a mix of about 10 different
responders.
Q. Name two of the Founding Fathers. A. Lincoln and Kennedy
Q. What is the square root of 100? A. Um...500?
Q. Name two Amendments
to the Constitution. A. Prohibition (only one person could name even one, and this
is it).
Q. On which currency will Barrack Obama's face be placed? A. The
"hay" penny (she meant the "wheat" penny, which has not been minted in 40 years).
Q. In general terms, what is the Stock Market? A. Lousy.
Q. Has
any progress been made in Iraq in the last two years? A. No.
Q. What is
the minimum wage - within a dollar? A. About $3 per hour (Fed minimum wage is $6.55,
but many states increase it - Alaska is $7.15, California is $8.00)
Q. Who is
Joe Biden? A. Nobody knew (he is a senator from NJ and VP-elect)
Q. Name
a country that borders Iraq? A. Israel (that was the closest, but some think Egypt,
China...)
One person thought that Hillary Clinton was the current vice president.
Another did not know how many stripes are on the U.S. flag.
So, why should we
worry about dead people voting, when apparently most of the living voters are utterly
too stupid to make an informed decision? Thank-you to the news media and to school teachers
for creating an entire generation of morons. If that sounds elitist, then too bad...
it's the truth.
Do you folks in other countries have similar experiences?

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
