The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Maybe some here can help me out. I've been arguing with someone who points out that we never read stories of black nations and black people coming to the aid of white people. I need some ammo here, but have not been able to find anything. Can you help? Where are blacks giving food, clothes, medicine, building materials, education, etc., to whites? I've got to admit to being rather stunned at not finding anything. :smt017

You're right I have never thought of that either. You (and me) will probably be considered racist for even talking about it in today's PC world. But you bring up a good point. I'll be interested in someone finding some examples. I honestly can't think of any.

Think it thru guys:
when the US dollars of charity money rolled in for Katrina Hurricane flood victims, a) the donors' skin color did not show on the dollar bills b) the skin color of the recipients did not count.
Internationally, the chances are that disasters happen more likely in poorer areas of the world than richer areas, where ethnically mostly white skinned people live, simply because most of the earth's surface is populated by poor people, not by Hedge Fund money stirrers.
Nonetheless, I am concerned that when disasters happen in countries such as Bangladesh and India, where there are some extremely wealthy people, we never see those people digging into their bank accounts to help their own people.
Another thought: I betcha when (not if) a major earthquake again strikes San Fran or LA, there will be lots of charity donations from wealthy black, brown, yellow, white and maybe even green Americans.

Mr. nubbage, I greatly appreciate your technical knowledge here and look up your posts when I visit (not as often as I should). However I think you might be overly optimistic on the above statement. We have had many opportunities for the Black and Hispanic community to rise up and show leadership in catastrophies (most recently Katrina). Shall we always wait for "the next time" while holding out hope? Shall the world wait?

The truth is that those groups have historically been the recipients of - yes I'm going to say it - the White race's generosity and good will. That is not being racist, just honestly assessing the world's history. You can point to eras during the slave trade as a reason to condemn Whites, and I completely agree that it was abhorrent, but mind you the Blacks in Africa were trading rival tribes into slavery then, and continue to do it today. That does not excuse our behavior, but it does show that the White race corrected its errors and have poured untold money, blood, and humanitarian aide into the embetterment of Blacks. We have done yoeman's work in South America too in assisting the Latino nations.

What do we get for it? A dependent class both here and abroad that not only scarcely appreciates it, but largely despises us as well.

So I return to Mr. (or Mrs.?) Snerdly's question: Where are the instances of the Balck and Hispanic peoples coming to the aide of Whites? Sorry, it cannot be found.

Thank you.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
