My personal stock option scandal - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Greetings:

With all the stock option scandals in the news lately, I though I'd give you a look into my own. When I hired on in December of 2001, the stock price was around $25. The scandal here is how worthless my options are based on the original issue price - around $6.25 today.

The good news is that the options were re-issued. The bad news is they were re-issued at a 1-for-2 exchange. The good news is that I didn't have all that many to begin with. The bad news is the current price is lower than the re-issue price. The good news is that we're an excellent company and some day, somehow, the stocks will rise again. More good news, if you subscribe to the adage that misery loves company, is that our ups and down pretty much track our biggest competitors, so the low stock prices are an industry curse, not just unique to us.

Hi Kirt, very funny!!! My own stock options were issued in 1998 by a then-respected start-up that everyone thought would live forever. If we haven't been de-listed yet, we're awfully close to it. I was counting on retiring by 2000 - no kidding. I was hoping to need some ot that suddenly-wealthy syndrome counceling. Not.

I liked your earlier quote frmo a bumper sticker about "Please God, one more bubble." It's so true here on the Left Coast.

Chaars.

Ted

Well, I happen to own some of that stock too, Kirt. I'd recognize those peeks and valleys anywhere.

It is a great company. I'm sure you guys still have the "Fire in the Belly"

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
