Paul Harvey fan - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I used to listen to Paul Harvey every day too on AM radio. I didn't hear him since the middle of the 1990s after he left for a while because of throat surgery. I used to fly model airplanes and didn't know that he did too until I read your little article. Nice job of writing the one about Samuel Morse in the style of Paul Harvey. I could just hear Paul's voice in my head as I read it. Doesn't his son do some of that stuff like his father used to do? I think I heard him a couple times - sounds a little like Paul but it's just not the same. Anyway I figured I'd let you know here on the blog since it doesn't seem to be getting much use these days. Any guess why not?

Greetings Amplifier:

I'm not sure why forum participation has dropped off so much, but my guess is that it has a lot to do with the social networking sites like FaceBook. Still, other sites seem to get a fair amount of dialog in their comments area, so who knows? Maybe once I've said something, there's nothing else left to be said about it. :-D

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
