Hi Kirt, I am an Indian pasport holder having more than 20 years
R&D experience in RF, Antennas and related fields with an emphasis
on airborne systems. Eventhough there are requirements in US in the
field allmost all of them insist on US citizenship and security clearance
etc. Here I want to know whether there are any reliable firms in US
who are willing to consider non-US citizens in RF/Antnna/Microwave/Wireless
fields. If so please publish the details on this RF cafe Forum.
Thanks in advance.

Erie, PA Greetings Nivar:
I do not know about other companies
in the U.S., but just recently I looked into trying to help a qualified
foreign engineer apply for a position at the company I work for, and
the response I got from management is that work visa quotas have been
filled and new visas are not being granted until 2006. I am not at all
familiar with what is required by companies wishing to hire foreign
employees, but hopefully someone else who reads this post might be able
to educate us all.
The company I work for has design and manufacturing
plants, as well as sales and field engineering offices worldwide, so
I think a lot of the foreign engineers and managers that show up here
at our U.S. facilities are actually hired and are stationed elsewhere,
and then come to work here on a temporary basis for a year or two.

Regarding
the visas, a lot of them are still up for grabs. The USCIS has not announced
that the 65k H1 quota has ben filled. If that was the case, they would
stop accepting petitions for H1 visas.
I do not know why the
companies hesitate to hire foreign RF Engineers. Even I tried a lot,
but without any luck.

Posted: Mon Jul 25, 2005 12:20 am Hello,
Companies hesitate
to hire overseas candidates because of the bureaucracy involved in this
process. This bureaucracy requires lot of efforts and company's personnel
to be involved, not to mention that it is time consuming. Therefore,
a company would prefer to hire locals only.
I am about to get
a job offer in Europe now (hopefully this week I will get the final
contract), in Europe things aren't much easier. However, they have in
some countries Green Card for highly skilled people that makes the process
of obtaining the paperwork much quicker and easier. So there is no red
tape for companies to hire foreigners.

MD To be legal, a company hiring an H1B visa holder or sponsoring
an H1B must show that they have been unable to find a citizen/permanent
resident to fill the job.
I have a friend in the RF world, working
in the US on an H1B, that has been looking to change to another company.
(Our company has been going through a lot of hard times.) So far, no
success for him.
I assume that all of this means that US companies
are not having too much trouble finding qualified employees. From my
own experience, there does not seem to be a lot of RF work going on
in the middle Atlantic that is not defense/homeland security related
(requiring security clearance).

Hi Kirt and others, It is really nice of you to have posted my
query on the job board . At least now I am getting some sort of the
picture regarding RF jobs in US . Many of the replies are educative
regarding the actual situation in US. I am wondering whether all RF
jobs are only avaialble in defence/ homeland security servics ?! What
about the civilian fields of bluetooth , mobile phone, boadband internet
etc? I request those people who read this to post any possible informaion
on H1 RF jobs known to them on this forum. I thank all people who
have taken pains to post a reply .
With best of regards,
Nivar

Hi Shafer, With reference to
the above I am yet to get any information from you. Please let me know
whether you have gone through my resume. It may not be tailor made for
your requirement. But if you are specific we can fine tune it.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
