I have a perfect opportunity, now email your resume in Word - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Every few months I get a flurry of these phone calls. Another round started this week.

They call up and say "I have a perfect opportunity for you, can you send your resume to me in MS word format?".

I ask "why do you need me to email my resume to you? You already have my resume, otherwise you would not have called this unlisted number."

Usually the person calling has quite a few technical questions, but they themselves do not know AC from DC. They ask questions like "have you ever used schematic capture?" "yes, I use orcad" "but have you ever used schematic capture software?" is their reply.

1) How fast should I hang up on these people?
2) Why do they come in groups? I won't get calls like this for months and then I get 4 to 10 per week for a couple of weeks.
3) Why do they 'insist' on my resume by email in msword format?

Greetings wb9jtk:

I have been experiencing an increase in annoying headhunter (redundant) contacts lately, too. I always write back or tell them on the phone to remove me from their spam list. I also ask where they got my resume, and most won't tell me, they just say they received it from a colleague. I have no respect for headhunters for many reasons.

About a week ago, I asked a headhunter to send me a copy of my resume that she had. It obviously came off the RF Cafe website, and right there in bold letters was my message, "I am NOT looking for a new job. Please DO NOT contact me."

Did I mention that I can't stand headhunters?

While many of you feel irritated at these calls there are a bunch of persons looking for an opportunity to work. They will be happy to receive calls from some of these head hunters.

Usually in the field of RF design and the high end PCB designs such scenario should not arise. But there do exist a minority who would still be looking for a job.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
