The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Anybody know of/working at any companies around Baltimore that need EE/RF engineers (hardware or system engineering oriented)?

My existing company (satellite/communications equipment and services) doesn't have the number of interesting projects anymore that it used to have and they are changing the future direction of the company in a way that does not fit with my goals.

Citizenship not a problem, my clearance from several years ago surely has expired by now, though.

Have you checked with Northrop (formerly Westinghouse)?

There's also Airinc down in Annapolis.

Good ideas RFEE. Anybody else have any thoughts? Especially for smaller, more exciting companies that may not advertise on the usual job boards.

Let's see...you live in Baltimore and you're asking about exciting companies that do EE/RF work. Try Northrop Grumman ES or any of the eight billion other government contractors in the area. Do you have at least a four year degree? Try Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab(Laurel)....An excellent place to work with quite a few 'exciting' customers. Try the federal gov't if you're so inclined(NSA). You're in a great area for that sort of work. Are you cleared? Try Windermere (Annapolis/Columbia/various other locations). Good luck.

Colonel,

Take a look at Alion Science and Technology...Their a good solid company with loads of RF work. A BSEE or MSEE is a big plus and they are a key player in the DoD arena.

Actually, I heard that Alion lost the contract they held and that ITT has taken/will take over. This was a few months ago, I don't know whether ITT will take over the same location in Annapolis or not.

Anybody got any tips on any smaller companies? I know about every company that has already been mentioned. In fact, I used to work at one of them (and I probably would not go back).

Most of them will be on my hit list when I start sending out resumes very soon. Just trying to get any information on any company that doesn't advertise frequently on the job boards. I don't want to miss any good opportunities that might be more rewarding than working at the big contracting companies.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
