The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi, the Munich company CDS has a GIS-based solution for integrated network planning and documentation. This has now replaced Smallworld in several major European cable operators including KDG - 15 million homes passed! They also provide solutions for even the smallest of operators. The great thing about AND (Advanced Network Design) is that you engineer your bulid/upgrade as you draw. This is in contrast to Lode Data, which has seperate drawing and calculation functions. It actually simulates the HFC network both accurately and efficiently. AND also provides interfaces to Acterna Equipment allowing you to compare measurements with the product's calculations. An SNMP-based network monitoring gateway is currently in the pipeline.

If you want more data about AND just send the company an e-mail to info@and-cds.com. If you ask nicely they'll even send you a demoware CD-ROM.

Hope this helps.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
