At work I have been taked with investigating the
use of a system that indicates that the RF cable
connected to our antenna is transmitting.
Someone mentioned a method similar to clampmeter.
It purpose is to run a light that indicates it is
operation. I am by no means an expert in this area,
so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
in advance

Something like this may be possible depending
on how good the cable shield attenuation is. If
it's a solid shield coaxial cable the attenuation
may be so high that it would not be possible to
detect transmitter power through the shield. Then
again, the transmitting antenna and other leakage
may provide enough signal. Key issues are: the transmitter
power level, frequency, and moduation type.

Thanks for that, would need to look into that a
little bit more, need to work out what to do with
the signal once I get it out in order to utilise
it

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
