Please click here to visit Millennial Net for more informationThe Company

Millennial Net produces hardware and software to build reliable, low-power wireless sensor networks. Our tiny, micro-power network elements can be installed anywhere or embedded in a sensor or actuator to add wireless connectivity. These products are used in industrial automation, building automation, supply-chain management, automatic meter reading, security, and other low-data-rate applications. We also provide services to customize our technology for specific OEM requirements.

Millennial Net was founded in 2000 with the vision to create a robust, scalable, and very low power wireless sensor networking platform. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Millennial Net traces its roots to MIT, where two of the company's founders achieved advanced degrees and performed ground-breaking research in low-power data-acquisition systems.

The company is financed by a syndicate of top-tier venture investors and is well poised for aggressive, long-term growth.

The Solution

Millennial Net's technology forms a reliable, scalable star-mesh wireless network by combining micro-power sensor interface endpoints and routers with a gateway. This solution uniquely provides both long battery life at the sensor interfaces and fault-tolerant networking.

Our innovative, patent-pending network protocol creates robust and fully redundant wireless links from the gateway to the endpoints through a self-configuring mesh network. The endpoints directly connect to, and are small enough to integrate into, analog or digital sensors and actuators. The network elements self-organize at power-up and re-configure in response to changes in the environment, network traffic, and device status and location. These tiny devices fit anywhere, enable mobility, and minimize installation and operating costs.

The company's primary product is the i-Bean, the world's smallest wireless sensor networking device. It combines analog and digital interfaces, a radio transceiver, and a microcontroller for sensor signal processing, control and networking.

Millennial Net uses a portfolio of radio technologies including ultra-low-power narrowband solutions as well as IEEE 802.15.4 wireless personal area network (WPAN) components.

Evaluation kits are available.

    Kirt Blattenberger,

    BSEE - KB3UON

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
