This Weekend VHF / UHF / microwave - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

For those of us that do not notice these things......
The VHF contest is this weekend.

I know, you don't operate contests. I recently got a new rig for the truck and it includes all modes on 6m , 2m and 430 MHz. Summer is here so 6m is open occasionally due to weather. And when VHF is 'open' it is open 'big time'.

I will actually get on 6m for a while this weekend. I will try the screwdriver antenna in the truck. On the other hand, it only takes a few minutes to make a 6m dipole.... and they are so small, 9' 4" you can stick one up anywhere for a weekend. Yesterday was the first time I was ever on 6 meters and there were signals from all over the east half of the USA.

Anyway, I made this forum post in case you, like me, now have one of the new HF rigs that also has 6m and just never got around to trying it out on VHF.

For all you RFcafe.com readers that work in radar, the contest also includes
902 ~ 928 MHz
1240 ~ 1300 MHz
2300-2310 MHz
2390-2450 MHz
3300-3500 MHz
5650-5925 MHz
10.0-10.5 GHz
24.0-24.25 GHz
47.0-47.2 GHz
119.98-120.02 GHz
142-149 GHz
241-250 GHz
All above 300 GHz
