The Olympics are Delaying My Airplane - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Greetings:

If you have been following the news about the severe level of pollution - mainly smog - in Beijing, you might know that the Chinese government has ordered that a lot of industry (i.e., production) be shut down during the few weeks prior to and during the Olympics. Warnings have been issued by a lot of companies worldwide whose products are manufactured there (like everything that can be purchased in Wal-Mart except bananas).

Well, I can claim to be personally affected since a radio controlled airplane that I have been trying to procure has been delayed for more than a month now whilst waiting for its Beijing factory to resume production. Just about all the ready-to-fly model airplanes are built in China nowadays. I build most of mine from kits, but decided to buy - or try to buy - this one in a ready-to-fly format.

BTW, the smog is still so bad that they're going to try seeding clouds to induce rain in an attempt to dissipate the smog. It isn't working. Some athletes are arriving in Beijing with special masks - of course political correctness has caused some to apologize for wanting to protect their health.
