Antenna Gain - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Dear All,
As part of a radar project it is necessay for me to do null steering using FM dipole antennas (88 - 108 MHz). I intend to place a null in the dipole polar pattern in the direction of the transmitter. My question is: Is is better to use FM dipoles that have a gain in the order of 10 or 11 dBi (the likes of which sold by Lindsay Antennas out of Canada) or simply using omnidirectional FM dipoles?

Thanks
RF Burns
