The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi,

I am building an HF transmitter for a wireless joystick. The carrier frequency is 43 MHz. The problem is that transmitter and antenna have to fit inside the joystick case which has the following dimensions:

-the box is 8.3*8.8cm
-the stick is 10cm heigh

Because of those small dimensions it is not possible to fit a quarter wave length antenna inside (at 43MHz, wave length/4 = 1.8m). And a 10cm wire is not long enough to provide sufficient range even if coil tuned because of very poor efficiency.

The output amplitude of the carrier is 1V peak to peak.

So what should I do to get sufficient range (I need just 10 meters)?

The only way is to go to higher frequencies?
