LINKING ANTENNA A to B - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Antenna A - my home
Antenna B - FM Transmitter

I am in Jamaica and i want to start a simple radio station i have TX1 1W Stereo FM Transmitter

Questions

What type of antenna do you recommed for the FM transmitter. note have added a 300W amplifier.

What type of antenna you suggest to link Antenna A and B this distance is about 8 mils no hills and mountain. If any what type of equipment is need.

the lower the cost the better

I guess you have registered for the necessary license from the authorities in Jamaica?
Of course 8-)
They will have a frequency listing for Studio-Transmitter broadcast links.
Then you need to look around for suitable low-power transmitters and receivers for those bands.
The distance from your studio to Tx site is short, but rainfall in Jamaica is high at peak times in the wet season.

So look for channels around 900MHz, and look out for a shrouded yagi with a gain around 10dB, eg from Cellwave.

Another solution might be to lease a DSL line or ISDN circuits from the PTT. Assuming they offer you high reliability, that might be cheaper and give you a better overall quality. I know a commercial FM station owner in Germany who has leased 2xBRI ISDN circuits from Deutsche Telekom to do this link. Although 1xISDN (Right stereo) + 1xISDN (left stereo) at 64kbps each (ie BRI ISDN) was not enough bandwidth, he rented 2 ISDN BRI circuits at 128kbps each, and used one for the Left channel, one for the right channel, and used the Q channel at 9.6kbps for the station control data channel.
