lumped element balun design - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

hi all

i'm trying to design a lumped element balun
frequency of interest- 100Hz to 40MHz.

I'm trying to synthesis a balun using Genesys tool.
Haven't succeeded in it.

jus have a crzy thought :

if incase i design three baluns in the following bands
a. 100Hz to 1MHz
b. 1MHz to 10MHz
c. 10MHz to 40MHz.

Is there anyway that i can combine these three circuits to realise a balun for the whole frequency range 100Hz to 40MHz.

Is there anyother better way to approach this design issue.

Any valuable suggestions are welcome.
thanks

balaji

The freeware program "AppCAD" contains a calculator for lumped element baluns. Or why don't you buy a balun for 2 $ at www.minicircuits.com ?
