microstrip gap in ADS - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I donĀ“t now how to get the value of the microstrip gap, as I simulate wit ADS. I mean , i put the value of the gap-width, the substrate, the microstrip width, but i want to know wich is the equivalent capacitance of this gap.

Hello Diana.

Yuneed to simulate a series capacitor and simulate it anf the microstrip gap on the smith chart and tune the capatior with the ADS until you see that the 2 simulation is fit together (overlapping) the capacitance that you will receive is the capacitance of the microstrip gap.
