CAD Freeware? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I'm looking for a CAD freeware to create one 3D design for an electronics enclosure. It has to be capable of handling one of the following file types:
Pro-Engineer, Solid Works, AutoCAD, .STL, .STP, .IGS

Hi!
You might check out the free version of Alibre: www.alibre.com . They give away free licenses to a limited version of their program.

Good Luck!

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I've found this software to be very handy.

http://www.download.com/Free-DWG-Viewer ... ag=lst-0-1

It's a free DWG viewer, supports CAD, Iges, dwg, dxf and more. Somewhat related to this post. Hope it helps somebody. I use it every day.

If you work regularly on 3D designs i will suggest using solidworks. It is expensive though.
