EVM system design/calculation - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi
Do any of you have a recomendation regarding what software to us for making a link budget showing expected EVM (error vector magnitude).

Input: Should be data like drive level, phase/amplitude ripple in filter, compression point of amplifier and frequency error in mixer

Output: EVM

Sincerely/Pär

Most "budgets" have an assumption of linearity hiding in them somewhere.

The essence of EVM is that the greatest portion results from non-linearity. In fact, the EVM of a signal from different amplifiers with the same third-order intercept point can vary significantly.

Good Luck (and I think you'll need it) !
