MEAN TIME BETWEEN FAILURE - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi!

"MTBF" doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. The military has a formula, and some - maybe most - component manufacturers have their own formulas and data. Your first choice is to get failure data from the manufacturer, along with how they figure it. (You just can't wait for 100,000 hours for a life test - that's 12.5 years!)

Your second choice is the use of handbook formulas. That is definitely a far second.

Good Luck!
Fred
