New in MICROSTRIP COUPLERS - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi there.

I would like to design a MICROSTRIP DIRECTIONAL COUPLER of 20dB for UHF band. I am quite new in this kind of couplers. How to begin the design with ADS and its MOMENTUM tool?Which are the steps?

Hello Corvus,

I am also new to this topic. From what I remember, in ADS there are models of coupled lines and also of couplers under the Microstrip line library, which you can utilize as a start point for your design.

First, a linear simulation to estimate the dimensions of the microstrip lines based on the required coupling, reflections and isolation requirements.

The next step is to do EM simulations.
