Power Handling - RF Connectors/ Cables - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi,

I am trying to learn the basics of power handling (average/ peak power calculations, dielectric withstanding voltage, corona voltage, etc) that I have to apply for RF connectors and cables.

Can anyone please direct to me some books or websites that can give me detailed information on the same?

Johnson Components has a nice document that covers a lot of the ground you are looking for:

Time Microwave has good info in the back of their cable catalog. This page has all the different sections available separately, because the entire catalog is 27 MB (look near the bottom of the page starting at around catalog page 63):

That should get you started. Beyond that, check cable and connector vendor websites (http://www.rfcafe.com/vendors/vendor-links.htm), and even call to talk to applications engineers to get specific questions answered.
