WHY? this is SO - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hello every body:
Every one of us is aware of this fact that we always make the transmission of our signals in analog form.Why we do not preffer digital?
Our information signal is in digital form in most of modern technologies but we use analog signals as carrier of our information signal.Receiver side has to filter the received signal to extrect informatic signal.
Please tell three reasons for this?

Don't get me wrong Naveed, I like you. I think you're the best thing that has happened to this website forum for a long time.

But have you ever considered having a different profession?

Like hair stylist or disco dancer?


If his profession really interests you, then read more about

Harmonics, Linearity, impedance mating, bandwidth,
noise figure, propagation, gain, power, phase noise,
Modulation...etc.

Todd, that was a really good one. I would suggest another profession as a comedian for retired Electronics Engineers.

Except when you get down to an atomic scale, where you get real quantum effects, there is no such thing as a truly digital signal.

ALL digital signals are inherently and unavoidably analog in nature - it's just that we interpret them as a ONE or a ZERO. Even classic TTL digital circuits have specifications like VIL, VIH, VOL, and VOH, noise margin, rise and fall times, etc.

So communications engineering is in large part the selection of waveforms to communicate what we need to communicate. Some signals appear more "digital", but they are always at root analog, because voltages and currents are not limited to certain values.

When I first started doing digital design, a co-worker came into my office and said "All the world's an analog stage, where digital circuits play bit parts." Well, it's not just bit parts any more, but analog it certainly is. The designers of 3 GHz cpu clock rate computers cannot ignore wave effects, and "all that Maxwell's equations stuff". Digital IS analog.

I was shocked to read that you like me but no problem. u have suggested a job like dancer and hair stylist instead of a telecommunication engineer.
I am very very very very sorry to say that I can't do this.
I like these professions but don't want to be a part of them so sorry a lot.
