magnetic screwdrivers - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Can the magnetic field of a magnetized screwdriver hurt electronic components? I'm thinking it is not strong enough.

I doubt any harm can be done by the magnetic field of a magnetized screwdriver to 99.9% of all components. However, the other 0.1% include parts like RF isolators and circulators that contain magnets, and if poorly shielded, could be affected. The el cheapo circulators in W-CDMA phones are an example of a component that could be harmed by a magnetic screwdriver.
