output power loss due to VSWR - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

hello,

In my Tx chain i have at the end a PA (power amplifier) with output VSWR of 2:1
then I have a losses due to RF cables of 1dB, and at the end of the chain there is antenna with VSWR of also 2:1
my question is if the output power of the amplifier is 50dBm, what will be the output power from the antenna.(assume the gain of the antenna is 1dB) caused by the impedance mismatch.

Quick answer:
It depends on the exact impedances and length of the transmission line.
The details matter.
