Anybody finding jobs here? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Radar Designer

Hi. I've been a radar designer (military) for 20 years and am thinking about finding a new employer. I hesitate to put my resume "out there" because of being innundated with headhunters. Sure, I know lots of folks in the field, but don't want to start rumors.

Has this forum been good for you people for feeling out the job market? Kirt have you gotten any feedback about how effective this forum is? A quick scan of the page views on the Employment forum looks to add up to around 50,000 or so. Surely a number of people have had at lease some reportable experiences.

How about it guys, what's been your experience?

it is very hard to say.

you get interviews where companies interview over 50 candidates and don't hire, and are being picky, incredibly. they are looking for someone that will knock them out, sort of rolling hiring, hire if you impress.

other places are actually growing, but they are hard to find, and you can only find out through emailing people directly at companies, networking and just plain luck.

i also notice companies are not advertising a lot of positions except for the usual suspects (intel, qualcomm etc) because they don't have the HR manpower to handle the large volume of resumes, which is why you aren't posting your resume, since you don't want calls !

i have a question .. after all your experience, do you have advice for young(er) people ?
