Entry Level - Assistant RF Technician (Miami) - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I am looking for an assistant to help me in the lab and in the field. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent HS grad or college student aspiring to be an RF professional. Pay dependent on skills and experience.

This is the broadcast sector. We work with RF up to 40kW (sometimes more) in liquid and air cooled configurations. This position is more than just RF. This is very serious work with high power, high current equipment, but it can be a lot of fun and it can take us to to some very interesting places. At first there may be little to no travel, but once the candidate is skilled enough to be helpful in the field travel may be required more often. Do you have your passport yet?

MUST have have the following skills:
*Exceptional attention to detail and safety
*Basic understanding of electronics and RF
*Excellent soldering skills
*Computer skills
*Mechanical abilities and familiarity with all types of tools
*Good attitude and personality
*Good customer relations both on the phone and in person
*Eagerness to learn

Helpful Skills:
*Fluent Spanish
*Understanding of electrical distribution, service, transformers, 3 phase power, etc.
*Understanding of Hydraulic systems and thermal transfer systems
*Knowledge of IP addressing and computer networking
*Experience repairing electronic equipment and replacing components
*Knowledge and experience with spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters and other test equipment

Send cover letter and resume to jzane@screenservice.net

Thanks,
Jonathan Zane

Not to be a pain in the a** and I'm not the policeman here but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to post jobs on the board here. See the first post in the list about getting permission. Just trying to help so you don't get in trouble for a violation.

BTW, sounds like an interesting job opportunity. I don't speak a word of Spanish though. Too bad that's a requirement here in the U.S. of A.

Well you're right! Sorry about that. I don't know if those rules were in place when I first starting using RF Cafe. My fault for not reading the sticky. I'll follow the proper channels. BTW, Spanish was a helpful skill, not a requirement. We sell a lot of equipment to Central and South America.
