Salary vs. Skill-level expectations at Intel - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Has anyone had recent experience working at or negotiating salary with Intel? I get the impression that they want champagne on a beer budget. Just trying to rationalize if it's worth working there.

That's odd. They compensate very well but my experience (meaning I know people, not myself) is with Ph.D.'s. If you are BS I can definitely see them screwing you. Just think about it: if you are BS and Intel has some position it wants to fill with a BS guy and Intel knows it is "INTEL" then they believe there are dime a dozen good candidates at BS level that will fit the job criteria. Now for MS or Ph.D., it's a little different and I think they compensate well for people with advance degrees. If you are Ph.D. and you think they are shortchanging you then I don't know what to say.
