IEEE on Savings - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Greetings:

I found the issue of personal savings in the U.S. a strange topic for the IEEE to be addressing. I also find it stupid that alarms are sounded all the time about savings rates, while the government has been taxing the interest earned on savings for the last umpteen years.

This should be addressed to the US Government!! We now have a collective credit card balance of:
$8,398,706,863,427.55 (at the time of this post - it is updated every second) and increasing at a rate of $2.44 BILLION per day!! http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

If the Government is in debt up to its eyeballs and that is OK, why shouldn't it be OK for the average citizen as well?
