RF: DIY training materials? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Location: Cleveland, OH
I am very new to the whole RF world and my company wants me to head up our remote control lines for tech service (long-term goal, not immediately!). I am looking for any information to educate myself as much as possible. I am going to have training provided on the specific products, but would like to build up a good background education, or at least an understanding, beforehand.

In short, I'm looking for books/websites/etc. that I should look at, starting pretty much at novice level.

A good website is of course RF Cafe that has many app. notes on various RF subjects. I would also recommend on 2 other sites:

http://www.microwaves101.com/ (all around RF design, subjects etc)
www.rfic.co.uk (Topics on circuit and system design)
