802.11g Prototyping hardware - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hello,

Does anyone know of any 802.11g evaluation boards that are commercially available? I'm interested in doing a project involving a physical layer only enhancement of 802.11g. I would like to utilize the underlying 802.11g waveform, but would like to apply the hardware to the IF frequency (0-500 MHz) before it gets upconverted to the typical RF frequency of 2.4 GHz. Please let me know if you know of any ways to achieve this.

Most of the 802.11g stuff I've seen is highly integrated System on Chip. I think you might want to look at rolling your own. You can use ADS to generate the signals in ADS, and then upload them to an Agilent signal generator and use that as a transmitter.
