Recommended RF cable RG type for WiMAX - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi,

What is cable specification required for WiMAX Application? What type we need to select for ndoor and outdoor applications.

Thanks in advance.

Hi ssabir
The question you raise is too general to give advice because there are many RG cables with low loss.
You need to do a loss budget for the system you plan to implement based on transmitter power, antenna gain, bandwidth, receiver sensitivity etc. From this, a maximum tolerable loss in the feeder cables can be estimated. Based then on the physical layout constraints of distance between electronic units and the radiating system, you can calculate the maximum tolerable loss per meter. From that you look up the data sheets to find the nearest match.
Hope that helps.
