How to build Power sensors using Schottky diodes - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

hi!
I want to build a power sensor with an operating frequency range from DC to 8 Ghz. The maximum power level is 20dBm. Is it possible to build one for this power level using Schotkky diodes. are there any special Schotkky diodes available for this purpose.

Hi,

there is no problem to do a power sensor for this band or power. What you should consider is to put some attenuator before the diode and there are plenty of diodes that could be used!
