Tyco Electronics - Press Release 10-31-2007

Tyco Electronics Announces New M/A-COM 5.0 - 9.0 GHz Multipurpose Low Noise AmplifierTyco Electronics Announces New M/A-COM 5.0 - 9.0 GHz Multipurpose Low Noise Amplifier

Variable Gain Amplifier Designed for Communications as well as Military and Space Radar Applications

LOWELL, Mass. – October 31, 2007 – Tyco Electronics today introduced the M/A-COM MAAM-007095-A3GVSA low noise amplifier, a new two-stage variable gain amplifier that is ideal for military and space radar, tactical communications systems and commercial point-to-point radio applications. Featuring a variable gain control of 0 - 5 V and 25-38 dB gain, the amplifier can be used as a LNA (Low Noise Amplifier), intermediate amplifier or driver stage amplifier. Typical noise figure is 2 dB with a 1dB compression point of 17 dB.

“The abundance of applications that this amplifier can fulfill, in combination with the number of connector configurations that it employs, makes the M/A-COM MAAM-007095 one of the most versatile amplifiers available,” said Ken Veith, engineering manager, Tyco Electronics. “We feel that this product advances our leadership in the market and we look forward to continuing to provide components that meet and exceed the needs of our expanding global customer base.”

The M/A-COM MAAM-007095-A3GVSA amplifier utilizes a 12V – 15V power supply, and can be mounted in either a connectorized or drop-in configuration. The amplifier resides in a hermitically sealed housing and can accommodate either field-replaceable SMA or GPO connectors. The amplifier is matched to 50 ohms on both input and output, and is fabricated using high-performance, high-reliability military standard processes. This part may be subject to US export compliance laws and regulations.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
