-- Ideal For Space & Power Constrained EW, ELINT,
DF Radar, ECM & IFM Systems

Chelmsford, MA, 11/05/2012 – Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced a new Successive Detection Log Video Amplifier (SDLVA) that operates over the full 1 to 20 GHz frequency range and carries a class 1A ESD rating (250V HBM). Specified as an improved ESD performance replacement for the HMC-C052 SDLVA, the HMC-C088 features miniature connectorized module packaging, which make it ideal for designers with space and power-constrained applications including EW and ELINT receivers, DF radar, ECM, and IFM systems.

Successive Detection Log Video Amplifier (SDLVA) functional diagramHittite's New 1 to 20 GHz SDLVA Module Features 250V ESD Rating - RF CafeAlso ideal for pulsed signal applications requiring high amplitude accuracy, the HMC-C088  is a broadband SDLVA device that converts RF signals at its input to an output voltage that is proportional to the logarithm of the RF input signal amplitude. The HMC-C088  employs a successive compression topology, which delivers a high logging range of 59 dB and allows for the processing of high level signals up to +5 dBm. During typical operation, the  HMC-C088  provides a nominal slope of 14 mV/dB and a typical intercept of -119 dBm at 10 GHz.

The HMC-C088  also provides high value for laboratory and high reliability applications and is capable of processing RF pulses with amplitudes from -54 dBm to +5 dBm with less than 10 ns rise/fall times, and with only    21 ns of recovery time. The HMC-C088  exhibits frequency flatness of better than ±2 dB at -30 dBm input power, while logarithmic linearity is less than ±1 dB. The HMC-C088 features an integrated voltage regulator that allows operation from a single supply voltage between +7V and +16V without any appreciable change in performance. The HMC-C088  draws significantly less power compared with competing discrete and module SDLVA solutions, consuming only 1 W from a +12V supply.

The HMC-C088 is supplied standard with two female SMA field replaceable connectors, but can also be used with blind mate SMP connectors or as a drop-in module. Specified for operation over the full -55 °C to +85 °C temperature range, the HMC-C088 is housed in a miniature connectorized package with 1.086” x 0.85” x 0.23” (27.58 x 21.6 x 5.84 mm) dimensions.

All connectorized module products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
