Saelig Introduces 5½ Digit High Performance Bench/Portable Multimeters

Saelig Company 28 Years - RF Cafe

Dual display/dual measurements, math capabilities, and internal rechargeable batteries make for true portability and usefulness

Saelig Introduces 5½ Digit High Performance Bench/Portable Multimeters - RF CafeFairport, NY, USA: Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has announced the 1908 and 1908P Digital Multimeters (DMMs) - high accuracy, high resolution dual-measurement benchtop instruments with USB and other optional interfaces. Additional features include frequency, capacitance, and temperature measurements, as well as a wide range of math and data logging functions. Unlike most high performance bench multimeters, these DMMs include internal rechargeable batteries for 'use anywhere' versatility. This enables the meters to be used on location, or moved around indoors without the problem of locating an available power outlet.

When precision measurements are required, handheld portable multimeters may not be sufficient for the task. The fully portable 1908 and 1908P DMMs not only offer high precision, but they also provide built-in data logging, even in remote locations. Both multimeters incorporate a USB interface for remote control and read-back, while the 1908P device adds RS232, GPIB, and LXI-compliant LAN interfaces, making this version suitable for a wider range of system applications.

The DMMs feature two displays which can be used for showing useful different parameters simultaneously. For example:

  • a measurement and the selected range (e.g. 100 Vdc)
  • a measurement in two different units (e.g. AC volts and dBm)
  • a measurement and a calculated function (e.g. % deviation)
  • two parameters of one signal (e.g. AC and DC volts)
  • two different signals (e.g. AC volts and DC current)

Quick response auto-ranging for all measurement parameters insures the best possible resolution at all times, but manual ranging can also be selected. AC voltages can be displayed in dB as well as voltage, and the 'True RMS' design gives accurate measurements regardless of the waveform shape.

High accuracy frequency measurement (better than 0.01%) is available for signals from 10Hz to 120kHz. A reciprocal counting technique is used to provide up to 0.01Hz resolution with fast updates. The capacitance measurement mode has five ranges up to 120uF. The linearized temperature measurement capability in degC or degF suits PT100 or PT1000 platinum resistance detectors (RTDs). These DMMs also feature linear scaling with offset, so the output of a transducer (e.g. 4-20mA) can be converted to a scaled direct readout of a physical parameter such as temperature or weight. The Limits Comparison/Pass-Fail function enables readings to be tested against preset high and low limits, while a Min/Max function stores the highest and lowest values of a set of readings (e.g. power supply glitches or peak temperature.) GUI application software is also supplied for configuration and remote control.

Made by Aim-TTi, a leading European test equipment manufacturer, the 1908 and 1908P Digital Multimeters are available now from Saelig Company, Inc. Fairport, NY.
