Scatter interference - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

If I want to erect an antenna close to a carport (metal roof), will I get scatter interference from the roof of the carport? How can I determine if this will be a problem?

Hi there,

You have to supply some more details:
- Antenna type and gain
- size of the surface
- position of the antenna on the surface

For example if you are talking about a sattelite dish (high directivity) that is pointing to the sky you won't have a problem.
On the other an antenna that has low directivity would interact much more with it's surrounding.
